How to avoid the odor of injection molding

- Nov 08, 2018-

When we buy injection molded parts, we sometimes encounter odors, which have a significant impact on the user's health. So, how do we avoid odors when we are doing injection molding? Let's take a look at the following.

1. Strictly control the use of additives

The tertiary amine of the catalyst used in the production of polyurethane foam will bring a strong odor and will also fog on the inner window of the car. We can find a substitute for these amines using polyhydroxy compounds. Polyhydroxy compounds are not only polyurethane molecules. The composition of the chain, and also the same catalytic activity, some polyols can even replace half of the tertiary amine catalyst, so that the smell of injection molding products becomes lighter.

2, choose a more pure resin

In many plastic molds, especially in polyvinyl chloride, styrene, polyethyl acetate and acrylate, residual traces of monomers can cause unpleasant odors. If odorless resins are used, the effect is better.

3, pay attention to the use of adsorbents

If a small amount of zeolite is filled in the polymer, the effect of removing the odor of the data can be achieved. Zeolites have a lot of crystal vacancies that capture small molecules of odorous gases.
